High summer certainly is not the time for roses but strolling Portorose on an.early morning I couldn’t resist not to take some pics.Portorose rosarium is not a  big one but it is quiet in the city centre
What is even nicer is the hole Portorose is planted with roses, flowering from.the beginning.of May till late summer as the climate here is mild.The only thing I would change not beehing just a visotor here is I would have all the roses named -and wish the tourists eould not steal these signs……….

Finally summer holidays in My Botanical Garden!You know that sweet feeling of holiday adventures to come, sound of cicadas in the air,smell of the blue sea,colours of roses promising endless summer,meeting old friends,swimming for hours and drowing in dolce far niente.As this georgeus  place bears its name after flowers-Port of Roses-Portorose-I promise to post some summer views of roses,cedras,olive trees,hibiscus,oleanders,palm trees and stone houses waiting calmly in forgotten gardens of the past for the visitors from the city to come and bring with the excitement for the past love of the Medditerranean sea ……..

Far ago northern Adriaric coast was dominated by Venetian republic.Olive trees were important here since Roman times  .Olive oil served as solid currency bringing live smooth as olio extra  vergine  to the region.As soil with stones was cultivated knowledge of oliviers rooted up to nowadays when searching for times lost far ago brings me in front of old red Venetian house overlooking blue Adriaric see .How many centuries are hidden behind these stones and how much olive oil was traded in cellar of this house I wonder walking down these silwer green olive trees.. .  …

Summer holidays on the Mediterranean coast bring back all the beauty of plants cultivated here since Roman times and even far before that.The first beauty without colour remains olive tree with  shades of green turning into silver as bora wind comes.Yet all the colours of this land glow in numerous forms of smell of oleander ,roses,hybiscus and lavendel .But as the sea dominates with its blues the greenery of palms reminds us green is the colour helping Mediterranean lands to survive from past times up to today……
