Acetabularia sp.

This green algae is typically found in subtropical waters. The individuals on the picture was found in rocky intertidal zone of Minatogawa Coast (Okinawa, Japan). By reaching up to 15 mm of the stalk height, Acetabularia is genus of gigantic single-celled organism. As they contains chlorophyll, they are able to produce their own food through photosynthesis process.
