St Ivan’s wreath

st ivans wreath photography Tamara Jare

St Ivan’s wreaths were woven from white and yellow flowers at the 24th of June. In old days they would adorn house doors, for the whole year, just to bring prosperity, health, happiness to old settlers of Goriska Brda villages. There was a red rose in the wreath on the house with a girl old enough to be married. They used to burn the old wreaths, that would bring good fate to the house…. .. This old tradition is now reborn, the photo has been taken in village Smartno, Goriska Brda.
